The Women
Not a man in sight, but the ladies obsess unabated and feed on gossip to devastating effect. Scripted by Anita Loos (Gentlemen Prefer Blondes) and Jane Murfin, The Women features an extraordinary all-female cast of 135. Rosalind Russell shines as chief scandalmonger and Joan Crawford's depiction of an indomitable gold digger is unsurpassed. With a directorial emphasis on piercing dialogue, the ferocious felines of Cukor's '30s classic make the Sex and the City girls seem like pussycats.
