Pin Boy (Parapalos)

Australian Premiere
Ana Poliak, Argentina 2004
Photo from Pin Boy

A country boy starts work in a shabby bowling alley in Buenos Aires. Although his life is little more than days spent between his cramped apartment and his work, where he gradually gets to know his fellow "pin boys", Poliak has managed to etch the deepest moments of humanity onto the head of a (bowling) pin in this minimalist fugue.

"I am not interested in depicting big events but try to look through my films for the 'light' and strength, which is lacking in our social milieu." Ana Poliak

Reviews

“A sensitive and beautifully realized work.”

David Walsh, World Socialist Web Site

“A quirky, elliptical feature filled with encounters, stories and observations that locate an absurdist logic and poetic magic in the seemingly ordinary patterns of our day-to-day rituals.”

Maria Delgado, London Film Festival
