Does it really exist, the pinnacle of life? Guenther and Paul are convinced that it does: they want to live - to the limit and with no compromises – and they expect the same of love. Together with Guenther's sister Hilde they spend the weekend at a summer house in the country. With a large group of friends, they have a drunken bohemian party in the garden. It's 1927 and drunk on absinthe, music and their lust for life, these young people are caught in a deadly maelstrom. Based on a shocking real life event. Stars Daniel Brühl of Goodbye Lenin! and The Edukators.

"Certain topics like homosexuality or promiscuity were at that time of course quite scandalous ; I conceived this movie as a kind of Bolero, the variation of themes, their threads leading further and further, creating swings in mood which run the full gamut of emotions; world pain, first love, ecstasy." Achim von Borries

Reviews

“Visually stunning, sensual, romantic and moody.”
