Landmines - A Love Story
In the ruined city of Kabul, Shah, a former Mujaheddin soldier, noticed a pretty Tajik girl who had only one leg, and began to court her. Amidst the chaos and violence, and despite all the obstacles of tradition and religion, Shah and Habiba were allowed to marry. Part observational film, part essay, this compelling documentary from Dennis O'Rourke (recipient of the AFF 2005 Don Dunstan Award) is a celebration of life, hope and love set in Afghanistan whose name has become synonymous with conflict.
