The Ister
At the height of World War II, influential German philosopher Martin Heidegger delivered a series of lectures on Friedrich Hölderlin's poem about the Danube river – addressing questions of home and place, culture and memory, technology and ecology, and politics and war. This fascinating cine-essay invites our re-consideration of these provocative questions still facing Europe today while taking us on a journey up the Danube from Romania to its source in the Black Forest.
David Barison and Daniel Ross will be guests of the Festival
